Occupation
Power plant operator
Power plant operators run and monitor the boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems that produce electricity. Most of the shift is spent watching instrumentation from a control room and walking the plant to check equipment by sight, sound, and touch. When something drifts out of range the operator has to decide quickly whether to adjust, isolate, or shut down.
