They translate broader product intent into concrete, testable items and answer the team's questions as work is built. The role is closer to the delivery team than product management usually is.

- Maintain and order the backlog so the team always has clear, ready work
- Write and refine user stories with acceptance criteria alongside the team
- Answer the delivery team's questions on intent, edge cases, and priority
- Accept or reject completed work against the agreed criteria
- Represent user and stakeholder needs in planning, review, and retrospective sessions
