Construction foreperson
Construction forepersons lead a crew on the tools, setting out the day's work, keeping materials and equipment moving, and making sure the work is done safely and to the drawing. They are usually experienced tradespeople who still work hands-on while supervising. The role is the first line of supervision between the crew and site management.

What the work involves
- Brief the crew on the day's tasks, sequence, and hazards before work starts.
- Set out work from drawings and check dimensions, levels, and lines as the crew progresses.
- Order and stage materials, tools, and plant so the crew is not waiting on them.
- Check work in progress for quality and correct it before it is covered up or handed on.
- Enforce personal protective equipment, exclusion zones, and safe work procedures.
- Report progress, material shortfalls, and problems to the site superintendent and record crew hours.
