Architectural technologist
Architectural technologists turn a design concept into the technical package a contractor can actually build from, resolving construction detail, materials, and performance requirements. They work alongside architects and engineers, and often own the code-compliance and buildability side of a project. The work is detail-heavy and mostly screen-based, with regular site and supplier contact.

What the work involves
Develop construction details, junctions, and assemblies from an approved concept design.
Model and document the building in BIM or CAD and keep drawing sets coordinated as the design changes.
Check specifications and details against building regulations, thermal performance, and fire requirements.
Compile schedules of materials, doors, windows, and finishes for tender and procurement.
Answer contractor requests for information during construction and issue revised details.
Liaise with product suppliers to confirm a proposed system performs as the specification assumes.
