Architectural technologist
Architectural technologists turn a design concept into the technical package a contractor can actually build from, resolving construction detail, materials, and performance requirements. They work alongside architects and engineers, and often own the code-compliance and buildability side of a project. The work is detail-heavy and mostly screen-based, with regular site and supplier contact.

What the work involves
- Develop construction details, junctions, and assemblies from an approved concept design.
- Model and document the building in BIM or CAD and keep drawing sets coordinated as the design changes.
- Check specifications and details against building regulations, thermal performance, and fire requirements.
- Compile schedules of materials, doors, windows, and finishes for tender and procurement.
- Answer contractor requests for information during construction and issue revised details.
- Liaise with product suppliers to confirm a proposed system performs as the specification assumes.
