What the work involves
- Install and connect furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, condensers, and ductwork.
- Charge, recover, and leak-check refrigerant circuits using recovery equipment and gauges.
- Measure airflow, temperature split, and static pressure to confirm a system performs as designed.
- Diagnose control, thermostat, and electrical faults on equipment that will not start or hold setpoint.
- Carry out planned maintenance: filters, coils, belts, drains, and safety controls.
- Explain the fault and the repair options to the occupant or building manager and write up the visit.

- A registered HVAC or refrigeration apprenticeship with a mechanical or service contractor.
