Occupation

Floor covering installer

Floor covering installers fit carpet, vinyl, laminate, engineered wood, and resilient flooring over prepared subfloors. Subfloor preparation and moisture testing take up much of the job, because a floor laid over a substrate that is uneven or damp will telegraph, lift, or fail. Layout planning determines where seams and transitions land in the finished room.
