Bartenders mix and serve drinks, run the bar's stock and till, and manage the room in front of them. Alongside making drinks they judge when a guest has had enough and enforce age and service rules. Most shifts are evenings, late nights, and weekends, on their feet the whole time.

Take drink orders from guests and servers and make them to the venue's recipes.
Check identification and refuse or slow service where the law or house policy requires it.
Take payment, run tabs, and reconcile the till at close.
Restock bottles, kegs, garnishes, and ice, and record wastage and breakage.
Clean glassware, lines, and bar equipment to the hygiene standard.
Watch the room for spills, conflicts, and guests who need help, and escalate when needed.
