Podiatrist
Podiatrists diagnose and treat conditions of the foot, ankle, and lower limb, from nail and skin problems to biomechanical and diabetic foot disease. Diabetic foot care is a significant and safety-critical part of the caseload in many services. Depending on the jurisdiction, scope can extend to prescribing, local anaesthesia, and foot surgery.

Assess gait, foot structure, circulation, and sensation, especially in at-risk patients.
Treat nail, callus, and skin conditions and manage wounds and ulceration.
Prescribe and fit orthoses and advise on footwear and offloading.
Carry out minor surgical procedures such as nail surgery where trained and permitted.
Screen diabetic and vascular patients and refer promptly when limb risk is identified.
Record assessments, treatment plans, and review intervals in the clinical notes.
