Occupation
Diagnostic medical sonographer
Sonographers use ultrasound to produce images of organs, vessels, and developing pregnancies, and they select and interpret what to capture in real time. Because the image is operator-dependent, the diagnostic quality is largely down to the sonographer's technique and anatomical knowledge. The role involves sustained scanning postures and, in obstetric work, conversations about difficult findings.
