Pharmacist
Pharmacists check, prepare, and supply medicines and advise patients and prescribers on how those medicines should be used. The clinical core of the job is catching problems before they reach the patient: wrong dose, wrong drug for the person, interactions, and duplication. In many settings pharmacists also run consultations and, where permitted, prescribe or adapt prescriptions.

- Review prescriptions for dose, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness before supply.
- Counsel patients on how to take a medicine, what to expect, and what would be a warning sign.
- Contact prescribers to resolve unclear, unsafe, or incomplete orders.
- Compound or supervise the preparation of medicines that are not supplied ready-made.
- Manage inventory, controlled-substance records, and storage conditions to policy.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and students working in the dispensary.

- An entry-to-practice pharmacy degree followed by a supervised pre-registration or residency period.
- A graduate-entry pharmacy programme taken after a science first degree.
