Park ranger
Park rangers look after protected areas and the people who visit them, combining trail and facility work with visitor contact, interpretation, and safety. A shift can move from clearing a washed-out path to running a guided walk to responding to an incident. Depending on the agency the role may or may not include enforcement powers.

Patrol trails, campgrounds, and backcountry areas and check conditions and hazards.
Maintain trails, signage, bridges, campsites, and visitor facilities.
Answer visitor questions, issue permits, and explain rules on fires, wildlife, and camping.
Deliver interpretive talks, guided walks, and school or community programmes.
Record wildlife sightings, visitor numbers, and incidents, and support search or rescue callouts.
Assist with habitat restoration, invasive species removal, and fire-hazard reduction.
