Occupation
Optometrist
Optometrists examine eyes, measure refractive error, prescribe corrective lenses, and detect ocular disease. A large part of the clinical value of the role is screening: eye examinations pick up glaucoma, retinal changes, and systemic conditions that the patient did not come in for. Scope for treating and prescribing varies substantially between jurisdictions.
