Occupation

Medical radiation technologist

Medical radiation technologists produce the diagnostic images clinicians use, positioning patients and operating X-ray, CT, MRI, or related equipment. Radiation safety is a permanent constraint on how the job is done, for the patient and for the operator. Image quality depends heavily on positioning and technique, so the work is more skilled than pressing a button.
