Occupation
Medical laboratory assistant
Medical laboratory assistants collect, receive, and prepare specimens and carry out routine testing and laboratory support tasks. In many services the assistant is the person who draws the blood, so patient contact and venepuncture technique are part of the job. Careful labelling and sample handling are the whole point of the role.
