Take a health history and screen for conditions that would make treatment unsafe.
Assess posture, range of motion, and tissue quality to locate the problem area.
Agree treatment goals and obtain consent for the areas and techniques to be used.

Give home care advice such as stretching, hydration, or activity modification.
