Logging equipment operator
Logging equipment operators run the machines that fell, bunch, move, and process timber on a harvest site. The work takes place on uneven ground in remote locations, often on long shifts and in camp-based rotations. Because the machinery and the terrain are both unforgiving, safe positioning and constant hazard awareness matter as much as production speed.

What the work involves
- Complete pre-start inspections and daily servicing on the machine before production begins.
- Fell, delimb, buck, and bunch timber to the specifications set for the block.
- Skid or forward logs to landings and deck them for loading.
- Watch for hazard trees, unstable ground, overhead lines, and other workers on the site.
- Adjust the cutting pattern to protect buffers, retention patches, and stream crossings.
- Report machine faults, production volumes, and downtime to the supervisor.
