Port and terminal operators move containers, bulk, and break-bulk cargo between ships, yards, rail, and trucks. The work involves lashing and securing cargo, operating heavy handling equipment, and following yard plans that change as vessels arrive and depart. Terminals run around the clock and the environment is noisy, outdoors, and hazardous if procedures slip.

Lash, unlash, and secure containers and cargo to the vessel stow plan.
Operate straddle carriers, reach stackers, terminal tractors, or cranes as trained.
Position containers in the yard according to the terminal operating system.

Interchange units with trucks and rail wagons and confirm documentation.
