- Research objects, provenance, and context within a subject specialism
- Catalogue and document items in a collections management system
- Plan exhibitions, select objects, and write interpretation and labels
- Assess acquisitions, loans, and disposals against the collections policy
- Work with conservators, designers, and educators on display and care
- Give talks and tours and answer enquiries from researchers and the public
