Occupation
Lifeguard
Watches swimmers at a pool, beach, or waterfront, prevents unsafe behaviour before it becomes an incident, and rescues people who get into trouble. Lifeguards also test water quality, maintain rescue equipment, and provide first aid until further help arrives. Most of the shift is sustained, disciplined scanning rather than rescue.
