  1. Assess applications and supporting evidence against the applicable statutory criteria.

  2. Verify documents and identity information and refer suspected fraud for investigation.

  3. Interview applicants or request further evidence where a file is incomplete.

  5. Apply policy and operational instructions consistently across comparable cases.

  6. Prepare files for review, appeal, or tribunal proceedings when a decision is challenged.
