What the work involves
- Develop process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams with the design team.
- Calculate mass and energy balances and size reactors, columns, heat exchangers, and pumps.
- Analyse plant data to find yield, throughput, or energy losses and propose changes.
- Take part in hazard reviews and document safeguards, interlocks, and operating limits.
- Support commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of process units in the plant.
- Write operating procedures, technical basis documents, and change-control packages.

- A postgraduate chemical engineering degree used to convert from chemistry or another engineering branch.
