Calibration technician
Calibration technicians check and adjust measuring instruments and test equipment so that the numbers a plant relies on can be trusted. They work to documented procedures traceable to national measurement standards and record the as-found and as-left condition of every instrument. When equipment is found out of tolerance they help assess what work may have been affected.

What the work involves
- Calibrate gauges, sensors, scales, and test equipment against traceable reference standards
- Record as-found and as-left readings and issue calibration certificates and labels
- Adjust or repair instruments within scope and route the rest for external service
- Maintain the calibration register and recall schedule so nothing runs past due
- Raise and support impact assessments when an instrument is found out of tolerance
- Keep the calibration laboratory environment and reference standards under control
