Streetworks mock test practice — without pretending we issue the card

Search Console shows “streetworks mock test”, “streetworks practice quiz”, and “streetworks quiz” landing on Novus Learn. In the UK those phrases usually mean rehearsal for a New Roads and Street Works Act card — the accredited qualification that lets you excavate or manage works in the highway. Novus Learn does not issue that card, does not resell an awarding body’s question bank, and does not run an official mock under anyone else’s licence.

What it does ship is close enough to be useful if we say so plainly: a road and highway construction worker occupation, a road-and-civil-works aptitude suite, construction labourer and heavy-equipment-operator suites, the civil engineering suite, and safety-judgement, mechanical-comprehension, spatial-reasoning, and attention-concentration skill lessons. Those pages already exist. This post is the map, not a parallel test with a borrowed brand.

The road and highway construction worker profile describes live, traffic-managed sites: setting out cones and pedestrian routes, excavating and compacting sub-base, laying asphalt, patching, installing signs and markings, and operating rollers and small plant. Night shifts and seasonal closures are normal because road closures are scheduled around traffic.

Entry routes on that page already include “a short course in traffic management, street works, or plant operation combined with a labouring start”, alongside direct entry with locally required traffic-management and safety cards, and highways or civil engineering operative apprenticeships. Licensing likelihood is certification-common-not-required: cards matter on site, they are not a protected professional title in the same sense as a chartered engineer.

Formal aptitude keys are still not in any download.

Civil engineering items that touch traffic management — for example closing a footway and providing an accessible pedestrian detour rather than leaving people to walk in the live carriageway — sit in the civil engineering suite, not in a separate “streetworks” product. Heavy-equipment items about following a site traffic-management plan sit in that suite. Use the suite that matches the judgement, not a brand name we do not own.

Read the highway construction occupation first so the day-to-day work is in view. Then take the road-and-civil-works suite as a timed mock if you want exam pressure, or work the safety-judgement lesson checkpoints if you want explanations without a clock. Add construction-labourer or heavy-equipment-operator if the card you are actually sitting covers excavation or plant. Keep civil engineering for the planning and detour judgement that shows up when a footway closes.

Novus Learn’s assessment editorial policy is original writing, dated factual sources, and a visible path to report an error. The suites above are original. Calling them “the NRSWA mock” would be a lie even if it ranked.
