376 free practice suites, and how each one stays honest

A practice library big enough to need a registry

Novus Learn's aptitude section holds three hundred and seventy-six practice suites, spread across twenty-four sectors — government and civil service, healthcare, trades, logistics, finance, and the rest — and mapped to thirty-five named skill constructs. Every suite is original Novus practice content written for its sector; none of it reproduces an official exam, and no suite claims affiliation with the employers or agencies whose hiring processes it helps you prepare for.

At that size, honesty starts with bookkeeping. The whole library loads through a validated registry that refuses to start if the counts drift: exactly three hundred and seventy-six suite profiles, exactly thirty-five constructs, or the build fails. That sounds like a developer detail, but it is what guarantees the directory you browse, the sector pages, the search filters, and the sitemap all describe the same library rather than three slightly different ones.

You can approach the collection three ways: browse the full suite directory with shareable filtered URLs, walk a sector's suites together, or start from a skill and work outward to every suite that exercises it.

Sixty questions, four jobs

Each suite ships sixty questions, but they are not an undifferentiated pile. The bank is split into four tiers with distinct jobs, so you can meet a format gently before you sit it under time pressure.

• Guided practice: ten questions at a deliberate pace — fifteen minutes — for learning the question style before speed matters.
• Mini test: a twelve-question timed set, eighteen minutes, for a quick honest check between study sessions.
• Full simulation: thirty questions in forty-five minutes, the closest the suite gets to real test conditions, with mark-for-review support.
• Reserve bank: eight questions held back from publication so the scored sets can be refreshed over time.
• Questions are multiple-choice or situational-judgement, written around the suite's actual sector — a civil-service suite reasons about registers and public notices, not abstract widgets.

A lesson before every timer

Timed questions teach you very little about a skill you have not met yet. So each of the thirty-five constructs — numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, error checking, and the rest — carries its own skill lesson: objectives, a worked example, practice tips, a glossary, and links into related Learn topics where you can study the underlying material properly.

Every lesson ends with the same disclaimer, and it is worth taking seriously: the lesson prepares practice, it is not a scored test, and reading it does not certify anything. The construct pages also list which suites exercise each skill, so if error checking keeps costing you marks, you can practise it across several sectors instead of repeating one suite until you have memorised its questions.

Answer keys never reach your browser

Here is the structural decision that keeps free practice meaningful: every suite's questions and answer key live in separate modules, and the key side is marked server-only — importing it into any client-side code fails the build. Your browser receives prompts and answer choices; the mapping from question to correct choice stays on the server, and scoring happens there when you submit.

The practical consequence is that you cannot lift the answers out of the page source, and neither can anyone else. A practice score therefore means what it says. When a suite explains a question afterwards, the explanation is deliberate output from grading — not a leaked key the interface was pretending to hide.

Attempts, results, and printouts stay yours

What comes back from grading belongs to your device. Attempts are stored in this browser's IndexedDB, the same local database that holds your study projects, and the results and history views ask search engines not to index them. There is no account, so there is no server-side record of which suites you practised or how you scored — and no way for Novus Learn to build one.

For studying away from a screen, each suite offers a printable study outline: open it and print or save it as a PDF, or download it as a standalone HTML file that works offline. The outline covers preparation material, not the scored questions — it is a study companion, not an answer sheet.

Honesty is maintenance, not a launch banner

A library of this size is never finished, and pretending otherwise would undercut the point of this post. An editorial integrity pass is in progress across the collection: an internal review flagged a set of familiarisation suites whose question stems were shorter and more generic than the house standard, and those are queued for rewriting. The coverage tracker that records which suites have completed human research and manual review is maintained openly, and several of its human-review columns are still open.

The reserve tier exists for the same reason. Published question sets are not monuments; they get refreshed as review finds weaknesses, and the versioned registry means a refresh is a deliberate, visible change rather than silent churn. If you find a question that seems wrong, it may genuinely be wrong — that is what the review queue is for.

What these suites are not

They are not official exams, and a practice score is not a prediction. Real hiring assessments differ in content, difficulty, timing, and stakes, and no practice result here should be read as a percentile, a pass mark, or a forecast of how you will perform on a test Novus Learn did not write. The suites tell you where your preparation is weak; they cannot tell you whether you will pass.

They are also not a substitute for studying the underlying skills. The construct lessons, the Learn topics behind them, and honest repetition across sectors are where improvement actually comes from — the timed suites just measure it.
