About this practice suite
This suite prepares candidates for typing and transcription selection in the administration, clerical, records, and office support sector with 5 skill areas: typing and keyboard skills, data checking and clerical accuracy, error detection, attention and concentration and reading comprehension. Every question was written by Novus editors for this suite — none are taken from live or leaked exams — and the full bank holds 52 scored questions across three modes, plus 8 reserve questions used to vary repeat attempts. Answer keys never ship to the browser: your answers are scored server-side, and results stay on your device.
Skills this suite practises
- Typing and keyboard skills — Text typing, numeric keypad, transcription, and data-entry speed and accuracy.
- Data checking and clerical accuracy — Matching, filing, coding, record checking, and identifying discrepancies.
- Error detection — Comparing strings, records, transactions, forms, and data for mistakes.
- Attention and concentration — Sustained focus, selective attention, and accuracy under time pressure.
- Reading comprehension — Understanding passages, instructions, policies, technical material, and workplace documents.
Sample questions from the guided bank
Two of the 10 guided-practice questions, shown exactly as they appear in a session. Answers and explanations are not printed here — keys stay on the server — so open guided practice to answer them and see how you did.
When transcribing a letter, the best accuracy habit is to:
- A. Compare the finished text against the source before releasing it
- B. Rely on spellcheck alone without reading
- C. Skip names and dates for speed
- D. Change wording freely to improve the author
Audio dictation is muffled on a proper noun. Best first move?
- A. Guess a similar-sounding name and send
- B. Mark the unclear name, replay the clip, and verify against a known directory if available
- C. Leave a blank with no flag
- D. Invent a nickname
Practice modes and timing
Guided practice is untimed-feeling and instructional; the mini-test is a short timed check; the full simulation mirrors a complete sitting. All three draw on separate question sets, so moving up a mode never repeats what you practised.
| Mode | Questions | Duration | Start |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guided practice | 10 | 15 minutes | Open |
| Timed mini-test | 12 | 18 minutes | Open |
| Full simulation | 30 | 45 minutes | Open |
