About this practice suite

This suite prepares candidates for machine operator selection in the manufacturing, production, maintenance, and quality sector with 5 skill areas: mechanical comprehension, numerical reasoning, safety judgment, attention and concentration and technical reasoning. Every question was written by Novus editors for this suite (none are taken from live or leaked exams), and the full bank holds 52 scored questions across three modes, plus 8 reserve questions used to vary repeat attempts. Answer keys never ship to the browser: your answers are scored server-side, and results stay on your device.

Skills this suite practises

  • Mechanical comprehension: Forces, motion, gears, pulleys, levers, fluids, pressure, and basic machines.
  • Numerical reasoning: Arithmetic, fractions, percentages, ratios, rates, estimation, word problems, and number relationships.
  • Safety judgment: Hazard recognition, safe sequencing, escalation, and risk controls.
  • Attention and concentration: Sustained focus, selective attention, and accuracy under time pressure.
  • Technical reasoning: Applied technical principles, diagrams, tools, systems, measurements, and troubleshooting.

Sample questions from the guided bank

Two of the 10 guided-practice questions, shown exactly as they appear in a session. Answers and explanations are not printed here, because keys stay on the server. Open guided practice to answer them and see how you did.

  1. A machine operator's primary duty on shift is to:

    • A. Ignore alarms to keep output high
    • B. Perform machine operator tasks safely within approved procedures and limits
    • C. Bypass interlocks casually
    • D. Rewrite safety rules mid-shift alone
  2. You notice an unsafe condition during machine operator work. Best first action?

    • A. Stop or pause the hazard path, warn others, and escalate per procedure
    • B. Continue and hope it clears
    • C. Hide the issue until end of shift
    • D. Disable the related alarm permanently

Practice modes and timing

Guided practice is untimed-feeling and instructional; the mini-test is a short timed check; the full simulation mirrors a complete sitting. All three draw on separate question sets, so moving up a mode never repeats what you practised.
