1. Check for captions first
Copy linkOpen Break down a video and give it the video. If the source publishes captions, that route is faster and more accurate than any automatic transcription, and it needs no model download at all.
2. If there are none, transcribe locally
Copy linkTranscription runs a speech model inside this browser. The first run downloads the model, which is large and cached afterwards; every run after that costs only processing time on your own device. Nothing is uploaded at any point.
3. Spot-check the transcript
Copy linkAutomatic transcription mishears names, technical terms and overlapping speech. Read the first minute against the audio before you rely on the rest. It is a thirty-second check that tells you how much to trust the whole file.
4. Study by timestamp
Copy linkClaims from a transcript carry the moment they were said rather than a line number, so inspecting evidence takes you to the point in the recording. That makes a flashcard you got wrong genuinely reviewable: you can go and hear the sentence again.
5. Keep the notes, not the video

- Exports include the timestamps, so a plain-text pack is still navigable.
- The video file itself is never copied anywhere by Novus Learn.
