Uploading files

Turn a local text or transcript file into a source-grounded project in your browser.

Supported formats

  • Plain text (.txt) and Markdown (.md, .markdown).
  • Subtitle and transcript files (.vtt, .srt).
  • Up to 10 MB per file — enough for a book-length text. PDF, DOCX, and PPTX are planned for a later release.

How it works

Open Upload, then drop a file or choose one. Novus Learn reads and parses the file entirely in your browser — the contents are never sent to a server — and builds the same claims, concepts, Knowledge Canvas, visuals, flashcards, quiz, and guided lesson it builds from Wikipedia. Text files keep line locations; transcripts keep timestamps.

Where uploads live

The generated project is stored only in this browser (IndexedDB) and appears under Generated projects in My Library. Delete it there or with the local-data control in preferences. Uploaded projects are not shared or synced; sharing a private file's derived content is intentionally not offered in this release.

Clear errors

Empty, oversized, binary, or unsupported files are rejected with a specific message instead of failing silently. If a very large file is truncated to stay within local limits, the project says so and the original file is unchanged on your device.
