Driving instructor
Teaches learner drivers the vehicle control, road rules, and hazard awareness needed to drive safely and pass a licensing test. Lessons take place in a dual-control vehicle and the instructor stays responsible for safety throughout. Many instructors are self-employed or work through a driving school.

- Plan a lesson sequence from basic control through to independent driving
- Give in-car instruction and take control when a situation becomes unsafe
- Teach road rules, hazard perception, and defensive driving techniques
- Give structured feedback after each lesson and set practice for between lessons
- Prepare learners for the theory and practical tests
- Book lessons, invoice clients, and maintain the training vehicle
