About this practice suite
This suite prepares candidates for technical troubleshooting selection in the technology, software, data, ai, and cybersecurity sector with 5 skill areas: technical reasoning, critical thinking, attention and concentration, situational judgment and safety judgment. Every question was written by Novus editors for this suite (none are taken from live or leaked exams), and the full bank holds 52 scored questions across three modes, plus 8 reserve questions used to vary repeat attempts. Answer keys never ship to the browser: your answers are scored server-side, and results stay on your device.
Skills this suite practises
- Technical reasoning: Applied technical principles, diagrams, tools, systems, measurements, and troubleshooting.
- Critical thinking: Evaluating evidence, assumptions, arguments, credibility, and alternative explanations.
- Attention and concentration: Sustained focus, selective attention, and accuracy under time pressure.
- Situational judgment: Evaluating workplace responses against role-relevant principles.
- Safety judgment: Hazard recognition, safe sequencing, escalation, and risk controls.
Sample questions from the guided bank
Two of the 10 guided-practice questions, shown exactly as they appear in a session. Answers and explanations are not printed here, because keys stay on the server. Open guided practice to answer them and see how you did.
Half-split troubleshooting educationally means:
- A. Changing every setting at once
- B. Dividing the path to isolate which half still fails, then repeating
- C. Rebooting only the monitoring server
- D. Blaming the newest teammate
Errors started immediately after a config deploy. Best first isolation move?
- A. Rewrite the application from scratch
- B. Ignore the deploy timeline
- C. Correlate with the change: roll back or disable the change safely while gathering logs
- D. Delete production data to ‘reset’
Practice modes and timing
Guided practice is untimed-feeling and instructional; the mini-test is a short timed check; the full simulation mirrors a complete sitting. All three draw on separate question sets, so moving up a mode never repeats what you practised.
| Mode | Questions | Duration | Start |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guided practice | 10 | 15 minutes | Open |
| Timed mini-test | 12 | 18 minutes | Open |
| Full simulation | 30 | 45 minutes | Open |
