About this practice suite

This suite prepares candidates for cybersecurity analyst selection in the technology, software, data, ai, and cybersecurity sector with 5 skill areas: critical thinking, situational judgment, technical reasoning, attention and concentration and safety judgment. Every question was written by Novus editors for this suite — none are taken from live or leaked exams — and the full bank holds 52 scored questions across three modes, plus 8 reserve questions used to vary repeat attempts. Answer keys never ship to the browser: your answers are scored server-side, and results stay on your device.

Skills this suite practises

  • Critical thinkingEvaluating evidence, assumptions, arguments, credibility, and alternative explanations.
  • Situational judgmentEvaluating workplace responses against role-relevant principles.
  • Technical reasoningApplied technical principles, diagrams, tools, systems, measurements, and troubleshooting.
  • Attention and concentrationSustained focus, selective attention, and accuracy under time pressure.
  • Safety judgmentHazard recognition, safe sequencing, escalation, and risk controls.

Sample questions from the guided bank

Two of the 10 guided-practice questions, shown exactly as they appear in a session. Answers and explanations are not printed here — keys stay on the server — so open guided practice to answer them and see how you did.

  1. A CVE for a library your org uses lists CVSS 9.8 and confirmed remote code execution. Best first analyst framing?

    • A. Ignore until a peer posts on social media
    • B. Prioritize asset exposure, exploitability context, and compensating controls before treating severity as absolute destiny
    • C. Assume every CVE is equal priority
    • D. Delete the library from documentation only
  2. Threat intel names an IOC hash seen in a recent campaign. Your scan finds the hash on one laptop. Best next step?

    • A. Publicly name the employee on Slack
    • B. Wipe the laptop without recording evidence
    • C. Isolate per procedure, preserve evidence chain, and escalate with context — do not improvise offensive retaliation
    • D. Ignore because one hit is never interesting

Practice modes and timing

Guided practice is untimed-feeling and instructional; the mini-test is a short timed check; the full simulation mirrors a complete sitting. All three draw on separate question sets, so moving up a mode never repeats what you practised.
